In honor of my 5oo posts, I have a question for you? What are your five favorite foods? And I don’t mean favorite dishes or recipes, but your five favorite foods as in Ingredients. Husband and I thought about this during our Sushi Date last week, but we were trying to list top 10 ingredients. I think top five is easier, and in this case more appropriate.
My top five are, in no particular order:
1. Strawberries
2. Shashimi-grade Ahi Tuna
3. Butter
4. Dark Chocolate
5. Avocado
So, have at it. Leave a comment and tell me your top five.
Let’s see… chocolate, butter, flour, milk, eggs. I think. Because you can make everything from bread to pasta to cookies with those basics.
I fear I may be a redundant poster, but my favorite 5 are:
Strawberries, the fresh kind in June,
Chocolate, though I need the vegan kind now, and that’s sometimes not enough,
Avocado, good on almost anything,
Roasted Red Peppers, sweet ambrosia,
Tomatoes, best straight from the vine in the garden.

Red Vines (can be used as an ingredient…)
I had to think about it, but here are the ones that come to mind:
sweetened condensed milk
chocolate
bread
butter
coffee
(assuming everything is fresh, of good quality and organic when possible!)

albacore sushi
avocado
salmon
strawberries
peanut butter
mmm now i’m hungry time for breakfast 🙂
Man, this is harder than I thought. I guess I’d have to say:
1. olive oil
2. garlic
3. butter
4. chocolate
5. bacon
Not too well-rounded is it?

the first two are easy:
artichokes
chocolate
after that it gets harder
raspberries
and then I have no idea
things used in our cooking often

garlic
actually is this an ingredient – coffee – then that’s in the top 3!

Peaches
Cashews
Olive oil
Mushrooms
I wish there was a recipe to combine all 5. The perfect meal.

Butter. (Hands down.) Bacon. Dungeness crab. Wild rice. Artichokes.

Prosciutto. Chocolate. Raspberries. Cream. Potatoes.
I’m sure I’ll come up with 200 more if I don’t stop now.
Ok, here goes.
Strawberries
Pineapple (fresh of course)
Tomatoes (fresh from the garden)
Oatmeal (for breakfast or in cookies or muffins)
Green beans (fresh and NOT overcooked)
I suppose they’re technically not “ingredients” but they could be – other favorites that ARE technically ingredients are: nutmeg, cinnamon, basil and oregano.
Ok – that’s nine – way too many but I couldn’t pare it down.
