Husband gave me this chocolate bar for my birthday. Can you say perfect? He also gave me this new camera that I took this shot with. Again, say perfect. He knows me too well. I have a thick manual to read and much to learn, but I’m having fun. And looking forward to better photos of food, aren’t you?

Family Photos

This past weekend we went out to the Landscape Arboretum and met up with Photographer Kim Monsen to shoot Daughter’s one-year photos. Kim is so talented. She took photos of my Brother and his family last summer and was able to wrangle his four kids, as well as their two cousins, and I’ve seen the photos that prove it.

We wandered through the flowers and she took dozens of photos of Daughter, Husband and I. When I downloaded the above shot from my camera, I remembered this photo my Mother took of me thirty-some years ago. Look familiar?

Three weeks from today I’ll be on a plane to one of my favorite places with some of my favorite people. I’m heading to New York City for Jen’s Manhattan Meet-up and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m leaving Husband and Daughter behind, which will be more than difficult, but it will be nice to get away and hang with the girls.

On my list of Must-sees and Must-dos:

• Dumplings in Chinatown (see above)

• Any Farmers’ Market (to get local goodies)

Mood (!)

• Central Park (at least part of it)

Guggenheim (never been there, strange, eh?)

• A Bagel in Brooklyn

• A cupcake that’s NOT from Magnolia

Museum of Arts and Design

• And to wander

So, I ask you, what am I missing? What do I have to see that’s off the beaten path? Where do I have to eat? I plan to walk almost everywhere, so I’ll need at least four or 5 meals a day. Suggestions? Thanks!

My brother and his family had to say goodbye to their beautiful Abby last week. She was 13 years old and so very sweet and gentle. She greeted them with a wagging tail each time they brought one of their babies home from the hospital. They have four. She was patient and let them crawl over and around and under her. All she asked for were a few tennis balls, a few throws of the frisbee and a few treats from little hands. I took this shot at the end of last summer. Two tennis balls at once. She hit the jackpot.

Abby, you will be missed.

I spotted this fellow among the Christmas Trees at the Farmer’s Market in the middle of the City of Minneapolis. At least he’s found the Orange Juice vendor so he won’t go thirsty.
