I’ve been out to eat a number of times lately, so I’ve saved them all up for one long week of restaurant reviews. It’s an interesting mix, from Sushi to Burgers to Sage Foam. But they were all delicious. Enjoy!

I don’t usually need an excuse to go out to dinner with the girls, but this past weekend a client of Jen’s was singing at one of my favorite restaurants, Crave, so a few of us decided to make it into a girls night. Of course we had a blast. There was lots of wine (and some lemonade) and a ton of food. We started with the Siracha Edemama and Calamari. Jen ordered the Ahi Tuna (photo above), T ordered sushi, including the crunchy tuna roll and the famous Mexican roll (with japapeno and cilantro), L and I both ordered a Salmon special that included risotto and a green bean salad. It didn’t stop there, either. We shared the coconut cake and the key lime pie. I loved them both equally, but the others preferred the coconut cake. Both were gone pretty darn quickly, so really, they were both hits.

There was good conversation (Chris Christopherson?) and fabulous live music. And of course, great food. What else does a girl need?

It was really beautiful out today, so we hunted down a restaurant with a great patio. It just happened to be Salut on Grand Avenue. Recently reviewed in the Star Tribune, Salut just opened on Grand. The first location opened a couple years ago in Edina and have done steady business since. St. Paul, specifically Grand Avenue, needed a casual but fun place with great food and a nice atmosphere.

After we went to the Science Museum of Minnesota and the Star Wars Exhibit with some friends, we ran up the hill to W.A. Frost for dinner. We had been there just a couple weeks ago and I just love their patio. It’s wooded and has a lot of character. The main patio was booked, so we found a table in the Bar Patio. It was packed. And I think there was one server running from table to table. I’ve been in that situation before and it sucks, but she was doing all she could to keep up. Managers were delivering food and filling water and it was a beautiful night so I was okay with it. Even after they delivered an appetizer plate with dried food on it. And a fork with dried food on it. And a martini glass with dried food on it. And a wine chiller with sauce on its side. Really, I was okay with it.

Maybe it was the flight of Ros̩ I started with that made me accept all these mishaps. Or the bottle of Pinot Grigio we finished next. Regardless, I had a great time with some great company and the food was above average. (Oh Рand my favorite of the three was called Badia a Coltibuono Cetamura Rostao from Tuscany.)

Ahi Tuna

We made it back to Cafe Maude, and again were seriously satisfied. Of course we started with the House Cut Fries, but we also went with the Seared Ahi Tuna Appetizer. Little crostinis served with a slice of tomato, a dollop of guacamole and the lovely lightly seared tuna with a pinch of microgreens. The tuna melts in your mouth, and obviously anything served with guacamole is genius.

Shrimp, Lovely Shrimp

For the entree I had the Lime and Garlic Grilled Prawns. Served at room temperature on a cold (what looked like israeli couscous) salad, they were full of flavor and perfectly prepared. Husband had the Sea Scallop pasta and Sister had the Chicken Flatbread, which was way too big for one person. (We’ll be having it for lunch tomorrow as well).
